Senior Environmental Protection Officer
Contract: 6 Months
IR35: Inside IR35
Working Pattern: Hybrid (dependent on business needs), including a minimum of one site visit per week.
An experienced Senior Environmental Protection Officer is required to support a busy Local Authority Environmental Protection team on an initial 6-month contract.
You’ll manage a varied caseload of environmental protection work, undertake complex investigations, provide technical advice and support colleagues across the service.
Experience Required
Experience in several of the following areas is desirable:
- Animal Licensing
- Planning Consultations
- Noise & Statutory Nuisance
- Waste Crime
- Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs)
- Contaminated Land
Essential Requirements
- Degree (or Level 6 equivalent) in Environmental Health or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional membership (e.g. CIEH, IAQM or IEMA).
- Strong knowledge of Environmental Protection legislation, including PACE, CPIA, RIPA, Human Rights, GDPR, FOI, EIR, Equality & Diversity and Safeguarding.
- Ability to prepare enforcement notices, prosecution files and formal reports.
Additional Information
- Access to a vehicle for regular site visits.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
