We are currently working with a Local Authority in the West Midlands to recruit an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer for an initial 3-month contract, with the potential for extension.
The role will sit within the council’s Private Sector Housing team and will focus on housing standards, enforcement activity, and complaints relating to the private rented sector.
The successful candidate will have experience in:
• Undertaking HHSRS inspections and identifying housing hazards
• Investigating damp, mould, and housing disrepair issues
• Managing housing complaints and enforcement cases
• Serving statutory notices and taking appropriate enforcement action
• Working closely with landlords, tenants, and partner agencies
• Ensuring compliance with relevant housing legislation and standards
The position requires an officer who can work independently, manage their own caseload, and deliver effective enforcement outcomes while providing professional advice to residents and landlords.
Requirements:
• Previous experience within Private Sector Housing or Environmental Health
• Strong knowledge and practical application of HHSRS
• Experience carrying out enforcement work and serving formal notices
• Ability to progress cases from initial complaint through to resolution
