We are currently working with a Midlands-based Local Authority to recruit an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer on an initial contract.
This opportunity sits within the Private Sector Housing team, with a strong focus on housing enforcement, property inspections, and ensuring compliance with current housing legislation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Undertaking HHSRS inspections and assessing housing conditions
- Investigating housing complaints and responding to service requests
- Preparing statutory notices and supporting legal enforcement cases
- Taking appropriate enforcement action in accordance with housing legislation
- Providing professional advice and guidance to landlords, tenants, and other stakeholders
- Managing a diverse caseload of private sector housing matters
- Maintaining accurate case records and inspection documentation
The ideal candidate will be confident working independently, managing their own workload, and delivering effective housing enforcement services while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and local authority procedures.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working within a Local Authority Private Sector Housing team
- Strong working knowledge of HHSRS and private sector housing enforcement
- Experience drafting statutory notices and preparing legal case files
- Ability to manage a busy caseload with minimal supervision
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (where required)
Contract Details:
- Initial 6-month contract with the possibility of extension
- Competitive hourly rate of approximately £45 – £50 per hour, dependent on experience
