Principal Environmental Protection Officer
Contract: 6 Months
IR35: Inside IR35
Working Pattern: Hybrid (dependent on business needs), including a minimum of one site visit per week.
An experienced Principal Environmental Protection Officer is sought to join a Local Authority Environmental Protection team on an initial 6-month contract.
This role combines technical leadership with operational management, leading on complex Environmental Protection cases while providing day-to-day line management and mentoring to the team.
Experience Required
Candidates should have experience across several of the following:
- Animal Licensing
- Planning Consultations
- Noise & Statutory Nuisance
- Waste Crime
- Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs)
- Contaminated Land
Essential Requirements
- Degree (or Level 6 equivalent) in Environmental Health or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional membership (e.g. CIEH, IAQM or IEMA).
- Significant Local Authority Environmental Protection experience.
- Proven line management experience.
- Strong knowledge of Environmental Protection legislation, including PACE, CPIA, RIPA, Human Rights, GDPR, FOI, EIR, Equality & Diversity and Safeguarding.
Additional Information
- Access to a vehicle for regular site visits.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends.
