I am currently working with a Local Authority in Hampshire who are seeking to appoint an Interim Head of Private Sector Housing on an initial 6-month contract, with the potential for extension.
About The Role
This is a key leadership role supporting the development and transformation of a Private Sector Housing service during a period of change.
The successful candidate will lead and manage a team of officers, providing direction, support, and motivation while ensuring the effective delivery of housing enforcement and regulatory functions.
The role will involve driving improvements to service delivery, embedding a more proactive approach to enforcement, and supporting the implementation of new and evolving housing requirements.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing a Private Sector Housing team, including senior staff
- Promoting a positive and motivated team culture
- Overseeing enforcement activity across the private rented sector
- Supporting the development of efficient and sustainable operational practices
- Driving service improvements and contributing to ongoing transformation work
- Supporting the potential growth of the service, including related workstreams such as Empty Homes
The service is undergoing structural change, and this role will play a key part in supporting its transition and future direction.
This is a hybrid role, combining office presence, site visits, and remote working.
Rates
Competitive rates available, dependent on experience.
About The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Extensive experience within Private Sector Housing in a Local Authority setting
- Strong leadership and team management experience
- A solid background in enforcement and regulatory services
- Experience supporting or delivering service improvement or transformation
- The ability to motivate teams and drive performance
