Environmental Practitioner (Environmental Protection)

📍 Location: Lancashire
We are currently working with a Local Authority in Lancashire who are looking to appoint an experienced Environmental Protection Officer / Environmental Practitioner on an initial 3–6 month contract.
Joining a busy Environmental Protection team, the successful candidate will manage a varied workload of environmental complaints, regulatory investigations and enforcement matters, while providing professional Environmental Health support and advice to internal teams, businesses and members of the public.
The role will involve:
• Investigating statutory nuisance complaints, including noise, smoke, dust, odour and light pollution
• Providing Environmental Health input into planning consultations and licensing applications
• Carrying out Part A and Part B Environmental Permitting inspections
• Inspecting regulated premises including petrol filling stations, quarries, vehicle repair garages and paint spraying facilities
• Producing technical reports, investigation records and enforcement documentation
• Offering technical guidance and support across Environmental Protection services
The ideal candidate will be able to manage their own caseload effectively, carry out investigations with minimal supervision and contribute positively within a busy Local Authority environment.
Requirements:
• Previous Local Authority experience within Environmental Protection or Environmental Health
• Strong background in investigating statutory nuisance and environmental pollution complaints
• Experience completing Environmental Permitting inspections
• Ability to produce clear technical reports and enforcement documentation
• Experience providing advice on planning consultations and regulatory matters
• Organised, dependable and confident working independently
