We are currently recruiting for an experienced Environmental Protection Officer to join a local authority on an initial 6-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an Environmental Protection professional with experience in investigating environmental complaints, statutory nuisance, and environmental enforcement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate environmental complaints, including statutory nuisance, noise, smoke, dust, odour, and pollution incidents.
  • Carry out site inspections and environmental assessments. Undertake enforcement activities in accordance with relevant environmental legislation.
  • Prepare reports, witness statements, and legal documentation where required. Provide advice and guidance to residents, businesses, and internal departments.
  • Maintain accurate case records and manage a varied caseload.

Requirements

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Health or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience working in Environmental Protection within a UK local authority.
  • Good working knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and associated legislation.
  • Strong investigative, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage competing priorities.

Rate: £50.00 per hour (Inside IR35)

Contract: Initial 6 months with the possibility of extension.
