Stonehouse are currently supporting a Local Authority in the Midlands with the recruitment of a fully qualified Environmental Health Officer to join their Environmental Protection team.
This opportunity offers a varied workload, focusing on pollution control, environmental regulation, and statutory enforcement across a range of commercial and industrial premises.
The successful candidate will have experience with:
- Investigating statutory nuisance complaints, including noise, odour, dust, smoke and other environmental issues
- Carrying out Environmental Protection inspections and site investigations
- Providing Environmental Protection advice on planning consultations
- Investigating contaminated land enquiries and pollution incidents
- Working in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and Environmental Permitting Regulations
- Investigating fly-tipping, waste offences and environmental crime affecting commercial and industrial sites
The position requires an officer who can independently manage a varied Environmental Protection caseload, undertake inspections and investigations, apply proportionate enforcement where necessary, and maintain accurate records in line with relevant legislation and local authority procedures.
Requirements:
- Fully qualified Environmental Health Officer with a recognised Environmental Health qualification
- Proven experience within Environmental Protection in a local authority setting
- Strong understanding of Environmental Protection legislation and enforcement practices
- Ability to manage a varied workload independently
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (where required)
