Accountant – Tax Preparation

Horizon Financial Services is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for tax preparation, tax compliance, financial reporting, and maintaining accurate accounting records.

This role is suited to a mid-level accounting professional with strong knowledge of taxation, accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review individual and corporate tax returns.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Calculate tax liabilities and ensure timely filing of tax returns.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities.
• Prepare financial statements and management reports.
• Perform bank, ledger, and account reconciliations.
• Review transactions for accuracy and compliance with accounting policies.
• Support tax audits and respond to requests for financial documentation.
• Monitor changes in tax regulations and assist with maintaining compliance.
• Coordinate with clients and internal teams to collect required tax and accounting information.
• Identify potential tax-saving opportunities while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  

  Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Approximately 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within financial services or a professional accounting environment.
  • Practical experience with tax preparation and tax compliance.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidential financial information.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
