Job Description

A Local Authority in Derbyshire is looking for a proactive, resilient Head of Legal to join their team on a permanent basis. You will get to work for a company where you will be made to feel part of the team and work in the countryside fresh air on a hybrid basis.

The Role

You will play a significant part in the implementation of the Council’s vision, values, and objectives by ensuring the delivery of high-quality legal services across the Council. You will be responsible for the legal and land charges teams with the possibility of taking over management of the Licensing team. You will also advise on the interpretation of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) and other relevant legislation. You will attend Court on behalf of the Council and defend claims made against the Council. Furthermore, you will manage and develop the Legal team, ensuring officers are trained and making sure that resources are available by managing and maintaining the legal budget.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have experience in developing and managing a team, in depth legal knowledge of land charges and licensing.
