Enforcement Planning Consultant – South West

A local authority in the South West is looking for an Enforcement Officer to join their team on an initial 3 month basis with a view to extend.

About The Role

A local authority is looking for an Enforcement Officer to assist with a shortage in their team.

The client is looking for a candidate to conduct the following:

• Inspecting plans, carrying out site visits and assessing development proposals and possible breaches of planning control, including proactive monitoring.
• Advising third parties about planning matters and the scope of planning control
• Drafting reports and recommending whether applications are granted or refused and whether enforcement action should be taken for submission to planning committee or for decision by the Head of Development Management.
• Preparing statements and other materials for appeals and prosecutions for agreement by the Team Leader and/or Head of Development Management, and to appear as the Council’s representative at inquiries, hearings and court.
• Keeping applicants, complainants, colleagues, councillors and others informed of the position of current cases and to share knowledge where necessary.

About The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be chartered by RTPI, or an equivalent qualification and on their way to accreditation. The client is happy to consider candidates with experience in planning legislation relating to enforcement, a clear written and verbal communication skill set, experience with negotiating enforcement breaches, experience of site surveys and local hearings. Applicants who are not chartered but have experience within the Planning field are welcomed to apply.
