Planning Policy Consultant – Central England

A local authority in the South West is looking for an Policy Officer to join their team on an initial 9 month basis with a view to extend.

About The Role

A local authority is looking for an Policy Officer to assist with a shortage in their team.

The client is looking for a candidate to conduct the following:

Support the effective development and regeneration of the Councill and the ability to manage discrete research and policy development, including drafting projects and the management of consultants.

With the expectation of the completion of planning policy tasks, will then consequently enable the successful preparation, examination and implementation alongside the delivery of the Local Plan and associated Area Action Plans and Supplementary Planning Documents.

Preparing statements and other materials for appeals and prosecutions for agreement by the Team Leader and/or Head of Development Management, and to appear as the Council’s representative at inquiries, hearings and court.

Keeping applicants, complainants, colleagues, councillors and others informed of the position of current cases and to share knowledge where necessary.

About The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be chartered by RTPI, or an equivalent qualification and on their way to accreditation. The client is happy to consider candidates with experience in planning legislation relating to policy, a clear written and verbal communication skill set, experience with negotiating policy issues, experience of site surveys and local hearings. Applicants who are not chartered but have experience within the Planning field are welcomed to apply.
