We are seeking an experienced Relationship Manager to join a leading independent wealth management firm. This role is responsible for managing and developing long-term relationships with high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) individuals, families, trusts, charities, business owners, and professional intermediaries. Working closely with Financial Planners, Investment Managers, and specialist teams, you will ensure clients receive a highly personalised, proactive, and seamless wealth management experience.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the wealth management industry, exceptional relationship management skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding client service while supporting clients in achieving their long-term financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for a portfolio of high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients, providing an exceptional standard of service throughout the client lifecycle.
  • Develop trusted relationships with individuals, families, entrepreneurs, company directors, trustees, executors, attorneys, and charitable organisations, understanding their financial objectives and personal circumstances.
  • Work alongside Financial Planners and Investment Managers to coordinate the implementation and ongoing review of bespoke financial planning and investment strategies.
  • Support clients across a broad range of wealth management needs, including investment portfolios, pensions, retirement planning, inheritance tax planning, trusts, estate planning, protection, and intergenerational wealth transfer.
  • Coordinate client review meetings by preparing portfolio reports, cash flow information, investment performance packs, suitability documentation, and meeting agendas.
  • Manage the end-to-end client journey, including onboarding, anti-money laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements, account opening, transfers, withdrawals, and ongoing account administration.
  • Liaise with custodians, discretionary fund managers, product providers, solicitors, accountants, tax advisers, and other professional introducers to ensure the efficient delivery of client solutions.
  • Monitor client portfolios and service requirements, proactively identifying opportunities for reviews, additional planning discussions, and enhancements to existing arrangements.
  • Assist advisers in preparing recommendations and implementing investment, pension, trust, and protection solutions in line with client objectives.
  • Respond promptly to client enquiries regarding valuations, transactions, investment performance, income payments, tax documentation, and administrative matters.
  • Ensure all client records, suitability documentation, and correspondence are maintained accurately in accordance with FCA regulations, Consumer Duty requirements, AML legislation, GDPR, and internal compliance policies.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen relationships through referrals, family engagement, and collaboration with professional connections while maintaining a client-first approach.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of financial markets, investment solutions, tax-efficient planning strategies, and changes in legislation affecting private wealth clients.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of client service processes and support business development initiatives where appropriate.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience within a private wealth management, financial planning, private banking, or investment management environment.
  • Experience supporting or managing relationships with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients.
  • Strong understanding of investment products, pensions, ISAs, trusts, inheritance tax planning, estate planning, and discretionary portfolio management.
  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills with the ability to build long-term client trust.
  • Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience using client relationship management (CRM) systems and wealth management platforms.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Desirable
  • Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (or working towards qualification).
  • Knowledge of FCA regulatory requirements, Consumer Duty, AML, KYC, and GDPR.
  • Experience working with advisers, investment managers, and professional intermediary networks.
