Housing Enforcement Lead
West Midlands | Initial 3-6 Month Contract (Likely Extension)
Hybrid Working – 3 Days On-Site, 2 Days from Home
£45 to £50 per hour (Umbrella)
My client is currently looking for an experienced Housing Enforcement Lead Officer to join their Private Sector Housing team on an initial 3–6 month contract, with a strong possibility of extension.
The successful candidate will provide technical and operational support across a varied housing portfolio, taking ownership of complex cases, providing guidance to colleagues and contributing to the effective delivery of the service.
Key Duties/Responsibilities

Managing complex private sector housing cases and enforcement matters

Carrying out and providing advice on HHSRS assessments and housing hazards

Supporting HMO licensing, inspection and enforcement processes

Investigating housing condition, compliance and statutory enforcement issues

Providing technical advice, mentoring and support to other officers

Handling complex complaints, appeals and escalated cases

Producing reports, enforcement notices, case documentation and records

Contributing to the development of processes and guidance to improve service delivery

Supporting wider housing, regulatory and enforcement initiatives where required
Requirements Needed

Previous experience working within Private Sector Housing, preferably in a local authority setting

Strong practical experience of HMO inspections and enforcement

Sound knowledge of HMO licensing legislation and wider housing regulations

Experience assessing property conditions, hazards and compliance issues

Ability to independently manage a varied caseload and carry out inspections

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use
