Food Safety Officer – West Midlands Local Authority

Stonehouse Recruitment are currently supporting a Local Authority in the West Midlands who are looking to appoint an experienced Food Safety Officer on an initial 3-month contract, with the potential for an extension.

The Role

You will be responsible for carrying out food safety work across the Local Authority area, including:

  • Conducting food hygiene inspections across Categories A–D
  • Inspecting newly registered food businesses and premises
  • Identifying and reporting any food safety or wider health and safety concerns
  • Completing inspection documentation and ensuring records are kept up to date
  • Undertaking visits to food premises across the county
  • Returning completed paperwork to the office on a weekly basis

The position is offered on an hourly rate, with mileage expenses also claimable.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Environmental Health Officer / Environmental Health Practitioner with previous Local Authority food safety experience.

You will need:

  • Previous experience carrying out food safety inspections within a Local Authority
  • The ability and competency to undertake Category A–D inspections
  • Strong knowledge of relevant food safety legislation and enforcement procedures
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Availability to work on site for a minimum of 3 days per week

This could be an excellent opportunity for an experienced Food Safety professional seeking a short-term Local Authority contract, with the possibility of the assignment being extended.
