Food Safety Officer – West Midlands Local Authority
Stonehouse Recruitment are currently supporting a Local Authority in the West Midlands who are looking to appoint an experienced Food Safety Officer on an initial 3-month contract, with the potential for an extension.
The Role
You will be responsible for carrying out food safety work across the Local Authority area, including:
- Conducting food hygiene inspections across Categories A–D
- Inspecting newly registered food businesses and premises
- Identifying and reporting any food safety or wider health and safety concerns
- Completing inspection documentation and ensuring records are kept up to date
- Undertaking visits to food premises across the county
- Returning completed paperwork to the office on a weekly basis
The position is offered on an hourly rate, with mileage expenses also claimable.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Environmental Health Officer / Environmental Health Practitioner with previous Local Authority food safety experience.
You will need:
- Previous experience carrying out food safety inspections within a Local Authority
- The ability and competency to undertake Category A–D inspections
- Strong knowledge of relevant food safety legislation and enforcement procedures
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- Availability to work on site for a minimum of 3 days per week
This could be an excellent opportunity for an experienced Food Safety professional seeking a short-term Local Authority contract, with the possibility of the assignment being extended.
