Principal Housing Enforcement Officer
South East London | Hybrid
55–£60 per hour
3-Month Rolling Contract | ASAP Start
We are seeking an experienced Principal Housing Enforcement Officer to join a busy Private Sector Housing Enforcement team.
The role will focus on improving standards in the private rented sector and taking enforcement action against poor property conditions and non-compliant landlords.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake HHSRS and HMO inspections.
- Investigate housing conditions, overcrowding, damp & mould and complex complaints.
- Serve statutory notices and undertake formal enforcement action.
- Investigate unlicensed properties and licensing breaches.
- Manage cases from inspection through to resolution.
- Prepare enforcement documentation and maintain accurate case records.
- Work with landlords, tenants and partner agencies.
- Essential Experience
- Strong Private Sector Housing Enforcement experience.
- HHSRS and HMO inspection experience.
- Good knowledge of the Housing Act 2004.
- Experience serving statutory notices.
- Ability to independently manage complex enforcement cases.
Desirable: CPNs, prosecution work, court/tribunal experience and licensing enforcement.
