We are currently partnering with a Local Authority in the South West to recruit an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to join their busy and supportive Housing Standards team on an interim basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Private Sector Housing professional to take on a varied caseload and make an immediate impact within a well-established local authority environment.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a broad range of Private Sector Housing functions across the borough, including:
- Investigation and resolution of housing disrepair complaints
- Carrying out HHSRS inspections and assessing property conditions
- Managing and progressing HMO licensing compliance cases
- Taking appropriate enforcement action under the Housing Act 2004
- Serving statutory notices where required and ensuring compliance with legislation
- Providing advice and guidance to landlords, tenants and stakeholders
- Supporting empty homes work and wider housing improvement initiatives
- Carrying out site inspections and maintaining accurate case records
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- Previous experience working within Private Sector Housing in a local authority setting
- Strong working knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and HHSRS
- Experience carrying out property inspections and enforcement activity
- Ability to manage your own caseload independently
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Working Arrangements
This position offers flexible hybrid working, with a full-time 6-month contract initially in place. Site visits will be required as part of the role.
