We are currently supporting a Local Authority in Gloucestershire with the recruitment of an experienced Housing Standards Officer to join their Housing Standards service.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Environmental Health or Private Sector Housing professional to support the delivery of housing standards across the borough through advice, inspections and enforcement activity.
The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating poor housing conditions, carrying out HHSRS inspections, managing HMO licensing compliance, and taking appropriate enforcement action where required.
The ideal candidate will have experience in:
- Investigating housing complaints and poor property conditions
- Carrying out HHSRS inspections and assessments
- Managing HMO licensing compliance and inspections
- Drafting and serving statutory notices
- Handling enforcement cases including civil penalties and prosecutions
- Working with landlords, tenants and external agencies to achieve compliance
- Managing caseloads effectively within a local authority setting
Requirements:
- Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent qualification
- Registration with CIEH or equivalent
- Previous local authority Environmental Health or Housing Standards experience
- Strong knowledge of housing legislation and HHSRS
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
