Overview
A Local Authority in Yorkshire is seeking an experienced Environmental Permitting Officer to support their Environmental Protection service.
The role will focus on regulating permitted installations and waste operations under the Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR), ensuring compliance with permit conditions and supporting enforcement where breaches occur.
This is a hands-on regulatory role requiring an officer confident with site inspections, compliance assessments and environmental legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out inspections of permitted industrial and waste sites to assess compliance with permit conditions
Produce Compliance Assessment Reports (CARs) and regulatory documentation
Investigate breaches of Environmental Permitting Regulations and recommend enforcement action where necessary
Provide regulatory advice and guidance to businesses regarding environmental compliance
Support case management relating to pollution control and environmental regulation
Work collaboratively with internal departments and partner agencies where required
Prepare reports, correspondence and legal documentation to support regulatory action
Requirements
Experience working with the Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR)
Background in Environmental Protection, Pollution Control or Waste Regulation
Experience carrying out inspections and regulatory compliance assessments
Strong report writing and case management skills
Local Authority or regulatory experience preferred
